when we do business, profits has always been the ultimate incentive that keeps us going it's a fact that we can never deny. but even when it comes to scrimping and saving, we have business ethics and social morals to follow. there's always a clear line between the orthodox and the unorthodox.
if one gets too caught up in his money making sense, he'll tend to lose sight of what he should of should not have done.
the past few days hasnt exactly been a pleasant experience for the backstage crew of west spring sec's learning journey. if i were to bitch about it, i could write a book.
seriously, some people's attitude towards life reveals how distorted this world actually is

i have witness some bizarre incidents from my (very) short time helping out thomas with his work over here in vietnam, which is, in case you don't know, the organisation of a overseas learning journey for a particular secondary school
i've witnessed how 'businessmen' go to the extend of exploiting their workers in the 'name' of earning more profits
i've witnessed how they throw all the works down to their underlings, they themselves not doing anything at all
i've witnessed how they promised the schools what they will get, yet not doing anything to fulfill their promises (and we have do it for them)
and there's a lot more from where that came from. too much to be said here in fact.

being jobless isn't exactly a great feeling, i'm already starting to miss teaching in rv. i guess i can say that because a relief teacher's jobscope is on a much lighter scale as compared to a full time teacher.
woke up early yesterday because i wanted to crash rv's yog carnival. the light rain in the morning sort of dampened my mood a little but fortunately the carnival events wasn't greatly disrupted as the rain clouds parted soon after i reached the school. went around visiting the different sports event that was occurring all over the school and watched my classes compete in ultimate frisbee and the relay run. somehow 3C and 3G both tied for the "excellence" award (excellence being one of the YOG values and the award given to the best peforming class) and i must say i'm really proud of them. i was with 3c most of the time and i really thought they displayed a strong bond between the classmates. impressive.
and of course i managed (though little) to play what i went for - water soccer. yep, they actually got the fico guys to go down to set up the pitch (cost a few k for both bossaball and the water soccer pitches) so i wanted to go try it out. not an easy feat, but definitely fun. it's totally unlike soccer to the extent that i think even cristiano ronaldo or lionel messi would play at the same standard as us in that water filled pitch. it's definitely a good carnival game that can be enjoyed by everyone. only problem is the overwhelming cost =/
well i guess i learnt quite a bit from being a teacher, definitely a better and a more complete experience compared to 2 years ago. and at the same time, it allowed me to affirm my feelings:
i miss going to school.
to my students reading this:
i am jealous of you all. really.

facebook seem to be slow today so i thought i'll update this place before i turn in.
had a good game of tennis w shaun, though as usual i was totally outclassed by him. 6-2, 6-1, 6-3. the last set was pretty close though, for a moment i thought that could be the first time i can take a set from him. but alas, i guess i need more training. hope i can increase the frequency of my tennis games so at least i can compete in ifg or ihg in nus.
and i didnt know there's a udders outlet at bukit timah area >.< went for a round of ice cream today after dinner w the usual nj peeps. had tiramisu and earl grey (i know someone is jealous) and i seriously think that it's not safe to drive after eating their tiramisu ice cream. i felt relieved that i had 2 scoops and my 2nd scoop was earl grey which helped neutralise the alcoholic taste. i mean, drinking is one thing, but having a scoop of ice cream with high alcohol content feels totally different. it quickly reaches a point where the taste becomes unbearable? maybe the selling point of udder's ice cream is their alcohol content. it's like what aaron (tan) said, 'their alcohol pour like free one'
but i still think daily scoop wins. bailey's choc chip ftw!

and so her plane took off 30mins ago. as i put down the phone once we've had our last exchange of smses, it felt as though something stabbed through my heart.
it's funny how her flight, which was supposedly scheduled to be in the wee hours of the morning got delayed, and how coincidentally i was told i need not relief for the week. it's almost like there was some mastermind behind all that set up, such that we can meet up for lunch again, and send her off properly.
maybe somewhere deep down, i'd rather be in slumber land, or in rv carrying out my relief duties, so that i can be spared the heartache, or rather, keep it to a minimum. but i guess, the bulk of me was glad that we could actually meet up again, because it made me realise so many things.
the next few weeks will be a bit hard to pull through, but i guess it'll be ok. the best way is always to get actively involved in whatever activities there are, and pray that there'd be few quiet moments.
till then, i'll keep this place actively updated
and maybe i'll decide to change the picture for my skin tmr. it's been a while since i last drew something anyway. i hope inspiration strikes...

i'm here to inject some life again, not just into this space but also into my writing.
last week before i complete my short stint as a physics relief teacher. they say that marking is always the bane of a teacher's life. i couldn't agree more. just finished marking 2 classes' practicals and i have another 2 more to go because the NIE trainees have left and honestly, i am not enjoying it at all. it's somehow more energy consuming than running around the track, yet it doesn't any burn any calories. and double negative doesn't really make a positive in this case. the only positive thing is i'm making money out of this. and of course i've to make sure my students get their books back in time so they can study for their test.
anw i had kuishinbo buffet at suntec last night for this first time so i thought i might as well do a mini review on it here. well, as much as i think that the food is of slightly higher quality and of (much) greater variety as compared to the other sushi buffets, i thnk that it's rather over-priced. basically there were all sorts of japanese cuisine to choose from, from sushi to crabs, from sashimi to all sorts of tempura. the star of the spread though, is their dessert counter, which has a chocolate fondue and several mouth water-ing cakes/tarts. overall i feel that it's worth going for but not worth going back unless there is a overwhelming craving for authentic japanese cuisine. my vote still goes to marutama ramen for the most authentic and satisfying jap food in singapore.
