are you dozing off as you journey through muggerland? need something to make your study life more intereseting? take some time off mugging and take a look at this:
i dunno what to say but... THIS IS DAMN COOL. juggling the soccer ball is out of fashion already. welcome to the new era.
as we all study hard, don't forget to play hard, and along the way, pick up some skills (so that you can maybe show off to your friends).
all the best for prelims!

when was the last time you felt as though every single ounce of energy have been drained from your body? no, not from mugging definitely.
went for a long run today after 6.022 x 10^23 years. felt as though there were only 6.63 x 10^-34 joules of energy left in my body now. typing a sentence now seem 8.314 times harder. my body feel as though it will break apart with a force of 6.67 x 10^-11 newtons.
huh? what? mugging too much? nonsense.
haha ok, lame. felt like going for a run today after studying for 2 days straight at kap. fortunately for the recent few sessions there were company and it made studying a lot better.
anyway, it has been some time since i've pushed my body this far physically. and it felt good. the air was refreshing, the other joggers were friendly, and the water tasted sweet.
to hell with mugging. you're only young once. live your life the way you want to.

really frustrated. some people's attitude really puts me off. and its not even people i know. let's get back to the topic i've talked about before. this certain anime distributor in singapore have a complete monopoly of the anime vcd and dvd sales locally and yet they haven't been doing well.
let's do some economic analysis here. why are the sales doing so badly despite the large population of anime fans in singapore? because of free substitutes available on the net? that's ridiculous. why can music stores likes sembawang survive (glamourously) despite the even bigger population of illegal downloaders for music over the internet?
ok, so this certain company make downloaders pay fine in order to make up for their loss in revenue which, they claim, is caused by illegal downloading. to me, this feels like a teacher punishing the students for ponning lessons when the lesson she teaches are horrible to begin with. the anime distributed by this company have been strongly criticised by the people, for their lousy video quality and lousy translation etc. quoted from our friendly wikipedia: "They don’t translate from the actual Japanese dialogue, apparently. They get a Chinese translation script from Taiwan or Hong Kong, and have their people translate from that into English, introducing a large number of translation errors in the process. Kanzaki Akari says “Sugoi!” in one memorable scene in the third episode of the OVAs, which their translators transmogrified into “The wind is so strong here!”. Talk about reading too much into a line."
btw, 'sugoi' means 'awesome' or 'incredible'.
anw, so they went about fining people like some child venting his temper when his mother refuses to let him watch his cartoons.
more quotes from a blog:
"It's been reported that ______ has identified 1000 users per ISP, fining them with a sum between $3000 to $5000. Let's do some maths. 1000 X 3 X 3000, _____ would at least earn $9 million MINIMUM."
"...So is the money REALLY meant to compensate for lost earnings, cost of investigating and administration charges only? Where exactly has the money gone to? Can _____ give us a clear and TRANSPARENT idea of what cost they have incurred and where has our money been cheated of to?"
"And why is it so that _____ charges 10% interest rates on people who cannot pay upfront? Is it legal for them to do so? Charging such an interests makes them no different from the Ah Long Sans that occasionally go around my neighbourhood looking for their debtors."

the gc's problem been solved, for now.
let's just get back to mugging before... i don't know. my econs is doomed.
and speaking of peer pressure, my classmates have been putting hell a lot of pressure on me these days, with them completing homework at a rate which made me feel as though they were attempting kindergarden questions. it's seriously unlike me to mug like that though i've tried.
but it's a good thing to have them around, since they were the ones who play a part in pushing me to study. that is the reason why the world needs a balance of different kinds of characters - the 'play more work less' type and the 'play less work more' type. like how the yin and yang balances each other.
oh well, off to study. all the best everyone =)

CODE RED: I LOST MY GRAPHING CALCULATOR!
and some people always say money is not important. it's only when you lose a certain expensive item then you realise how important money is.
anw, i think i misplaced it when i was in LT5 on friday, 17/8, during the 2 lectures in the morning. anyone happen to see it and took it? if it's there it should be the last 2 rows.

and the battle between the anime community in singapore and a certain company which distributes animes locally heats up as the manager of that company was slammed for making certain remarks on a certain forum (for more info go read the newpaper)
nevermind if the company had the law backing them, this incident has sparked off much displeasure and united much of the anime lovers in singapore to rebel against what pissed them off. first, their privacy of using the internet has been violated (which leads us back to our gp essay for our CT: can there be privacy with the internet?). now, it was because of the comments made. what's next?
thats why they always say technology is a double-edged sword. sorry, i just happened to be very gp-ish here.
which side will i stand on? i'll sit on the fence i suppose. i haven't really been enjoying anime recently anyway because they are declining terribly. naruto is trying to drag by showing the same scenes over and over again. prince of tennis (national championships) is trying to rush through for i don't know what reason. either way it completely ruined the original author's intention for a good story. that's why reading manga is better =)

shall blog for a bit since my brother is taking forever to bath.
even the hungry ghost are free, and yet we're still stuck in this never ending torture. argh.
it's been a painful week for me, literally. had a headache for 4 days in a row, and it only subsided with the help of panadol yesterday. too much mugging is bad for the head. if only i could go see the doctor and tell him that mugging gives me headache, and then he'll give me an mc banning me from mugging for a few weeks. if only... anw, after headache came muscles aches, everywhere. i guess i still need to warm up before i start chionging floorball for pe. now i'm walking like some 100-year-old ah pek because my back aches like mad.
mugging has been rather consistent though. but i don't mind being behind others (which is where i currently stand now) because seriously i cant mug as much or my head will split.
anw, i came across an interesting topic on the newspaper, and this was something which happened to me as well. imagine you were on a bus, on your way to somewhere. you saw someone in a hurry to alight and in his/her hurry, dropped his/her money, (insert amount), on the seat and alighted unknowingly. what would you do? well, it kind of happened to me some time ago, but fortunately mine was just a bunch of coins scattering all over and the owner just ignored them and walked off (欠打man). so it wasn't that tempting so i just ignored them. but what if it had been... say... $10 or $50 or some amount you could never imagine and have to use your GC to calculate. what would you do? can you resist it as the note(s) lie quietly at the seat, staring at you, tempting you as the bus moves on? hehe...
ignorance is a bliss... lol.

ok this is random, but i happened to recall something when i saw one of those anti-dengue campaign posters around. i remembered seeing one outside sembawang naval base last monday, but the words were a little different. it went:
"bleed for your country, not for the mozzies"
haha, classic.
here's another one which is kinda cool. it was in one of the toilets in the naval diving unit's base (or maybe all i'm not sure). on top of every urinal was a quote which goes like this:
"if your hose is short and your pump is weak, please stand closer to me"
swee la, lol.

ok i guess my ns vocation is somewhat confirmed. went for the vocational assessment for the naval diving unit on monday, and the impression i got from the test was that no matter how uninterested you appear, no matter how retarded you act, as long as you pass the medical tests, 70% of the time you'll get in. wth.
anw, the tests consisted of medical checkup, pull-ups, standing broad jump, and 100m swim. and i'm actually quite surpirsed there were non-swimmers there. then there was this test where we had to go into this pressure chamber to experience the pressure at 10m depth (okok, i admit for the period of time i kept thinking of pV=nRT). then we had this damn long 300+ questions IQ and personality test. imagine shading 300+ answers onto the oas. its hell. then there was the interview where the interviewer said, "go train your 2.4km to 9:15, can right? ok" and without a reply from me, he ticked the box which says "highly recommended". ok...
if there's anything for me to look forward to in ndu, it's the food. we had lunch and dinner there that day and the food was good. and i assure you they didn't make the food good just because we (outsiders) were there. the food we had there is what the divers have daily. i guess even if life is going to be hell in ndu, there's still the food for me to look forward to (unless ia have to be out in the sea fishing).
well, until the enlistment letter comes i can only be 90% sure i'll get in.
ok i've talked enough about ndu. till next time then
happy national day folks.

certain people said certain stuff this week which struck me quite deeply...
oh well...
track elections today. i must say i havent been as good a track captain as i had wanted myself to be. i probably failed more than i accomplished. probably it was the lack of leadership experience that cost me. but all i could think of today was to do my last task well - to pass the baton to the best people who i believe can serve the team better. it's officially the end of the road now. all the hamstring strains and shin splints won't be bugging me for a while.
one fall after another. i can only get stronger.
track aside. i've just received a letter from mindef asking me to report to sembawang naval base on 6/8/07 at 730am (i live in the west, mind you). apparently it's the vocational assessment for the naval diving unit. i can't even swim well. fyi, i learnt swimming on my own (a bit from my father) and i only mastered breast stroke and 3/4 of free style. now i'm suppose to go for a diving test? what a joke. and these are some descriptions from people about the ndu.
"saikang warrior" (undersea rescue or go and search for stuff like dead bodies)
"underwater commando" (10x worse than track training. everyone inside there got 8 pec. training damn hiong etc. etc.)
"i heard got condition (to get in) one, like the person must have siblings or smth like that" (this one is scary. infer yourself)
the best one from zhirui. "the difference between ndu and commando is that one parachutes and the other dives. one fall and die the other drown and die."
