they always tell us to realise out dreams, but how many people actually managed to fufill them?
they always tell us to get a job we enjoy doing, but how many of us actually manage to find such a job?
they always tell us that one day we'll find true love, but then again, how many of us actually found the right one?
they always say "be optimistic" but how will we ever know, if optimism will always just be an illusion?
most of the people who live in this world probably have similar dreams and goals in life - a good life, high paying job, loving spouse etc. yet there aren't enough of such luxuries to accomodate to all out wants. the minority gets them - those who stand above others, those who manage to fight their way up and a handful by a stroke of sheer luck. the others (the majority), can only settle for the whatever they can get. we're living in a world where people settle for the next best alternatives. there will never be a perfect life for anyone. even if u have one, you're just depriving many others of such a life.
that's why i always think that it's better not to expect too much, and instead be contented with what you have.

ok for those who thought my last post was emo, i do apologise because i had no intention of it being an emo post. in fact i was in rather high spirits when i wrote that. because the realisation of the fact that how my friends are precious to me woke me up (before i even smelt september). losing a friend really sucks, but more than that, it's stupid. plain stupid.
anw, i've spent quite a lot this week, and that is not a good thing i suppose. but nevertheless, these are the money that're well spent. been going out quite a bit, meeting up with old pals, sending a good friend off, work, movie, tennis, farewell lunch etc.
great moments, just what we all need to carry ourselves out of the bottomless abyss we call "stress"
it's back to work tomorrow but somehow i feel less bothered by that fact. maybe becuase i know there're people around me i can rely on when things go wrong, not just myself.
smile!

if there's anything i've learnt over the past few months, it is the fact that i will not let go of anyone that had been there for me at any point in my life.
never again...

yesterday was great, and at the same time, extremely tiring. whoever said friday the 13th is an unlucky day? because basically everything that happened to me and my friends yesterday didn't seem at all ominous. everything was as clear as the weather was (just that the temperature was indeed a little on the high side)
in the day we had HQ RSN (beach) volleyball compeition at siloso beach. and it was one heck of a game. my department compromised of a team of average-ly skilled players but we somehow managed to play our way to the finals with sheer fighting spirit coupled with a stroke of luck. of course not forgetting the many supporters that sacrificed their much needed work hours (erhem) to come down and support us.
the finals was definitely the highlight of the day, as our team was up against one with 2 regular beach volleyball players. we lost the first set 21-8 (owned), but barely managed took back the 2nd set 22-20 when they filed their weaker players. when the 2 pros came back in for the third set, we also had one extra member on our side - lady luck. unknowingly (and i really mean UNKNOWINGLY), we were suddenly leading them 9-1. i was just standing at the net with no clue what the heck was going on becuase we're supposed to get whacked. it was then the other team started to panic and played better, but our side really blocked every of their attacks with every ounce of our willpower. they finally leveled at 15-15 all for a deuce. but we showed no sign of giving up
and we went on to win 17-15.
in sports, these are the moments, when you know that u've accomplished what has been deemed impossible at the beginning, that really brings that sweet taste of victory into that very taste bud of yours. defying the odds with your guts and coming from behind to snatch that last laugh away from it's "rightful" owner. that is really the best moment to saviour.
alright that was ytd. today's valentine's day and no i don't have a date. but i was down at bedok resevoir to watch the wings x-country raced (only to remember a while later that there's also 2nd allcomers meet at gombak today too). anyway i think wings athletics club seriously have some affinity with valentine's day because if i recall correctly, this is definitely not the first time they held their x country championship on vday itself. maybe there're a lot of couples in the association, who knows? =p
anyway the RV girls team is freaking strong man. must be steven quek's magic xD
alright, happy valentine's day people!

The All-American Rejects - Mona Lisa
here's another pity there's another chance you tried to learn a lesson but you can't
if we could burn a city and the future's ending fast without a change our lives will never last we're going fast
you can sit beside me when the world comes down if it doesn't matter than just turn around we don't need our bags and we can just leave town you can sit beside me when the world comes down
what can we do better? when will we know how? a man says from the sidewalk to the crowd
if you can change the weather if you wanted to yourself well if you can't i guess we all need help cause i need help
we say, we do, the lies, the truth and all i need is next to me
we're going fast

ok i admit this drawing didn't really turn out the way i had wanted it to because i was trying to rush through it to finish it before valentine's day haha. and resizing the image too much seemed to have a detrimental effect on it. just in case you're wondering, no i'm not drawing this picture for anyone. if i am it'll be quite dumb to put it up here haha.
anyway my colleague feedback to me that my drawing style are like those "comics that girls read". ok... i have to agree somehow. think because of the emo factor? hahaha.
another of my colleague (note that's it's all my colleagues because i did this in the office =X) asked me why i didn't draw them sitting closer. well, i'm really sure myself either. think it's because i was thinking of them as a shy couple haha.
and i was listening to the all american rejects' "mona lisa (when the world comes down)" when i drew this one. the way they used "can" in "you can sit beside me when the world comes down" sort of made that line seem... umm... cute? haha hence the picture. and no don't expect me to draw the world coming down so i made it up with twin shooting stars hahaha.
well i think i'll draw a new one soon cos i didn't really think this one turned out well argh. failed valentine's day theme -.-
ANYWAY!!!

haven't blogged for the past few days, (given the fact that i've been quite a frequent blogger before that). well i guess it's probably due to the lack of excitement in my life? CNY has just gone by, Australia Open has come to an end and all i'm faced with for the last week are just work, my boss, and my colleagues. i'm in desperate need of something, anything to spice up this mundane life of mine.
and no don't talk to me about valentine's day because of the obvious. but i am curious about how my attached friends and colleagues are going to spend theirs. just curious. sometimes when i see how vexed my colleagues are over planning for the event, i do wonder next time when i get attached, maybe i shld tell my gf to plan the valentine's day events from time to time.
just a random thought of mine. spare me if it's not right.
anyway had this primary school gathering today. i must say the turnout rate was really quite unexpected, in a good way. even tingyang (i know you are reading this) who pangseh-ed the S14 bbq turned up. when cunzhi (aka the hot rj soccer captain) asked me who do i think has changed the most, it kind of struck me that all of us haven't change much at all. not that we haven't matured since then (we definitely have), but that fact that when we take a good look at ourselves, we still see the same old 6E of qifa primary back in 2001. even mrs lim and mrs khoo looked exactly the way they were since we left.
it was quite a successful gathering today, though we didn't really do much but try to dig out every single scandal we had back in the primary school days and recall the stupid things we did (bottlecap soccer behind the canteen etc.).
well i guess amidst the fast moving currents of life that have been dragging us along, these are the moments that really remind us the need to slow down and look back for a bit. and at the same time bring some warmth into this weary heart of ours

inspired by the song mentioned below.
haha i have no idea what to draw on the piece of cardboard. according to the song lyrics it's "some words" saying "if you see this girl can you tell her where i am". but since i'm really bad at drawing "words", i just stuck to something simple. that part is inspired from another song, also sang by the script called "breakeven".
"'cos when a heart breaks, no it don't break even"
disclaimer: in NO way am i emo or anything when i drew this pic. just feel like drawing it after listening to the song.

i lost (or rather someone took) my simple plan cd from my mum's car and it's nowhere to be found! i am pissed! >.<
ok anyway rafa just won his first australian open title at rod laver arena moments ago. it's a pity for federer really, all his shots - from his extremely well placed serves to his drop shots were gallantly excuted. it's a pity his opponent on the other side of the net happens to be a bull who really goes for every single ball and hits them back with sheer power (and a vast amount of top spin to go along). fedex delivered, but rafael nadal's defence was simply impenatratable.
both players played damn well i must say.
and tennis is really a game where mental strength speaks a lot. it's not an exaggeration to say that a single fault or double fault can turn the entire game around. really 佩服 those players who never seem to be intimidated by the big stage.
