it is now 0930, half a day left before i have to book in again tonight. oh well...
wanted to go down to yio chu kang stadium today to catch the 4x100m relays but i suppose i need to rest more at home. but i managed to catch the 4x200m and 4x400m relays yesterday with dian xiang. i suppose after my batch left the nj guys team is facing a serious shortage of runners. almost all (or maybe all) of the guys who ran yesterday were running their virgin race. as for the girls, as usual, they ran well. i'm glad i was there to watch how shalom reduced a 30-40m deficit at the last change over to help the girls clinch 2nd spot in 4x200m, beating the 3rd placing by a mere 0.05s
oh well, track aside. i'm somehow getting used to life in ns already. though i must say it is really draining on both our minds and our bodies. i dislike it, dislike it because it takes away all, or not most of my freedom. there's just so many things i want to do whenever i book out. go out with friends, watch all my animes, play my final fantasy VII, play my guitar, read my comics, play tennis etc. etc. and most of the time i couldn't accomplish them because my tired body would be screaming for a long sleep. haha it sucks, seriously.
but ya i know that somehow, i have to get myself to "enjoy" ns. it's going to be 1 year and 10 months of this, so i can't possibly make myself miserable for that long right? haha. slowly, aaron, slowly. take it step by step. for now, i'll just have to train, to become stronger, as a person. i'm looking forward to the infamous "hell week". that's my goal now.
what's yours? =)

the worst thing you can ever get when getting a jab is to have the person who's doing the injection asking someone else: "oi! jab where ar?"

the past few days were spent with friends who just passed out from tekong, LAN gaming, having dinner together or simply just chilling out and sharing army experiences. ok probably 'sharing' isn't the right word here since i'm the one who hasn't enlisted yet.
now, it's going to be my turn to start on my next phase in life, a life which is going to be somehow different. i'll be turning 19 pretty soon, and this 19 years on earth have shaped me into who i am today. what does the next 2 years (or 1 year 10 months to be exact) have in store for me? how will i like this new way of life? somehow these endless questions just keep popping into my mind.
but like what i always tell myself: dont think too much la. cast away whatever fears and doubts i might have in myself, and just take on any challenge that comes my way. i'll never forget my sprinter's philosophy:
1) just whack
2) if you're dying, refer to rule no. 1
once in a lifetime, 2 years of our time
how much will change?

had a partially bad day today. partially because tennis with kai sheng for 2 hours straight killed not only my arm but also the lousy mood i was in. ok aside from the little things that contributed to my lousy mood (which includes endless hours of rain concert), there's one thing i just feel like talking about.
so as usual i was on my way to bukit batok driving centre from cck interchange. oh ya sidetrack abit, for those paying adult fare, taking 188 from cck interchange to BBDC costs 67cents but taking 985 from the same interchange to the exact same stop costs 89cents. ok i sound like so cheapo idiot here but it's really quite a lot of money if one happen to be taking the public transport everyday.
haha ok anyway back to my main point. i happen to board this 188 bus driven by this driver who had no idea how to start the ez-link card reader. it took him a good 5 minutes (after had opened the door and made the passengers boarding wait at the entrance) before he finally got it started. anyway i wasnt much affected then, so i just boarded the bus nonchalantly, oblivious that the little ignorance shown by the bus driver was a foreshadow to me getting conned of my ride later.
as i was about to alight at BBDC, i tapped my card at the exit and the card reader read "$1.39" (refer to top)
at that very moment the commuters on the bus would probably have felt a strong killing intent
but before i could do anything i had no choice but to alight and blame my luck.
thinking back, i think i can consider myself lucky? because those who alighted after me would probably be pulling their hair out if they saw their bus fare.

argh! i hope mas selamat something something can be caught really soon so that the traffic congestion at the causeway can ease up so that i can safely take 961 home again.
the jam (traffic jam, not the one you put on your bread) has spread from the causeway all the way down woodlands road, through the industrial area, past the heavy vehicle park (aka the back of my house) and all the way to bukit panjang (!!). and the jam is really horrible i must say, the heavy vehicles on the left lane were not moving at all. could see the drivers getting off their vehicles to have a nice chat. fortunuately the 961 bus driver was smart enough to take the right lanes to somehow get me home, only that the journey was kind of long? thomas would have long finished a 2.4km run before the bus was able to move up to 50m.
talking about the road, this is a shoutout to all who are going to learn driving: do not take auto car lessons!!!
of course that's just my opinion but seriously, i'm glad i'm learning manual transmission instead of automatic transmission. had my first auto car lesson today (since all manual car learners need to attend 2 auto car lessons) and it was boring (to me la). after learning manual car, driving the auto car seems as easy as playing daytona, or initial D or watever racing games you play at the arcade. anyway luckily the instructor was nice and accepted my request to let me drive to choa chu kang area haha.
this is pretty cool:

clear sky means you're happy
rain means you're crying
sunset means you're embarrassed
night sky means you're gently holding me
i'd rather be the sky, so i can see where you are all the time, and come down and pound on those who are bad to you

ok i kind of met my expectations for my 4 H2 subjects. but not for GP. i do admit that the grade is sort of expected as well but i just cant help but feel slightly disappointed. oh well.
other than that, there's something else that makes me feel even more sian. but... nvm...
many years down the road, when i run into some old friend along the streets, when they ask, "hey! how's life?", i just wanna be able to smile a say,
"great!" =)

i was sitting at the computer terminals at bukit batok driving centre and there was this indian lady beside me (confirm she's indian). then while i was browsing through the practical test dates on the computer, she started talking to her friend who came to sit beside her.
lady: 哇! 他__的! 我message你你没有收到啊?你知道我等了很久了吗?欠打是吗?
i couldn't help but look away from her and try to contain my laugther. sure, i was astounded by her vugalrities (because i thought she looked decent =P) but more than that i was surprised she could speak chinese that well (and swear in chinese, pro). haha i guess this kind of little surprises makes life interesting. alright, i shall go and learn how to scold people in jap (baka is too common already)
anyway the driving simulator machine at BBDC is the same thing as the daytona machines we see in the arcades, except for the fact that it's game over once you crash. so next time if you feel like playing at the arcade and your parents don't allow, just tell them you're going for driving simulator lesson, sounds better.
oh and simple plan's new album is nice. they changed their style, which is something other bands have also been doing (think linkin park). but yea i like this change - slightly less high, more mature, and more emo rock haha. but their high songs are still good as ever haha.
results on friday!
TGIF? lol

seems like i've been blogging quite often these days. probably due to the fact that i know that i will lose this freedom to do so soon.
anyway the past 2 days have been rather enjoyable. friday was driving lesson in the morning (where i happen to bump into renuka going for her first practical lesson) and the sushi buffet with yujia, mark, siva and zhili in the afternoon. well, that's one thing down out of the list of many things i wish to do before i enlist. it was quite a hilarious sight watching siva try his first sushi and sashimi, while mark was crazily dumping 4 cream puffs into his (gigantic) mouth at one go. crazy people they are, that's why it was fun xD
yesterday had dinner with recruit naraen and recruit law (wah sounds cool man). three 19-year-old guys having dinner together. as expected, the main conservation topic was on NS. fortunately i was somehow able to keep up with their acronyms. anyway here's the proof that NS makes you stupid:
waitress: so what drinks do you all want?
thomas: cold drinks *continue to look normal as if he said nth wrong*
waitress: *stunned for a while*
me: erm... ice water... ya...
waitress: oh ok *walks away and then was silence for a while*
all 3 of us: HAHAHAHAHAHAHA, WTF?!?! WTH IS "COLD DRINKS?" HAHAHA~
anyway it was nice chatting with them, grumbling about how A level results is taking so long, talking about the JI terrorist escape and how the 2nd year NS men finally have work to do. recruit law was like: "eh aaron, how many days you have left? go find a girlfriend la" but recuit naraen was like "NO~ aiya got pros and cons la." haha. both of them were so happy the they're POP-ing soon and excited as to where they'll be posted to and i was like "yea i'm enlisting soon, and i'll most likely be stuck at sembawang for 2 years"
looking forward to results day, not to see the results but to see my friends again =)

i koped this from mr ho jin kit shaun's blog. edited it a bit la since i dont think they all speak my mind. but i suppose it says a lot about guys in general? i'm not sure since i'm no newspaper journalist doing a survey on the male population.
Rules that guys wished that girls knew. i shall now post them here.
1. if you think you're fat, you probably are. dont ask us. we refuse to answer.
2. learn to work the toilet seat. you're a big girl. if its up, put it down.
3. do not cut your hair. EVER. long hair is always more attractive than short hair. one of the big reasons guys fear getting married is that married women always cut their hair, and by then, you are stuck with her (i think some girls look good in short hair too though)
4. birthdays, valentines and anniversaries are not quests to see if we can find the perfect present yet again.
5. if you ask a question you dont want an answer to, except an answer you do not wanna hear.
6. sometimes, we are not thinking about you. live with it.
7. do not ask us what we are thinking about unless you are prepared to discuss such topics like sex, sports and other girls
8. sunday = sports. its like the full moon or the changing of the tides. let it be.
9. shopping is not a sport, and no, we are never going to think of it that way.
10. when we have to go somewhere, absolutely anything you wear is fine. really.
11. you have enough clothes. you have too many shoes. (i dont really bother actually)
12. crying is blackmail.
13. your ex-boyfriend is an idiot.
14. ask for what you want. let us be clear on this one: subtle hints do not work.
strong hints do not work.
obvious hints do not work.
not saying it obviously doesnt work.
just say it!!
15. no, we do not know what day it is. we never will. mark anniversaries on a calendar. remind us frequently beforehand.
16. most guys would own three pairs of shoes, tops. what makes you think we'd be good at choosing which pair, out of thirty, would look good with your dress?
17. yes and no are perfectly acceptable answers to almost every question.
18. come to us with a problem only if you want help solving it.
sympathy is what girlfriends are for.
19. foreign films are best left to foreigners (dont think so...)
20. check your oil, please.
21. anything we said 6 months ago is inadmissible in an argument.
22. if you wont dress like the victoria's secret girls, dont expect us to act like soap opera guys.
23. if something we said can be interpreted two ways, and one of the ways makes you sad or angry, we meant the other.
24. let us ogle. we are gonna look anyway, its genetic.
25. dont rub the lamp if you dont want the genie to come out
26. you can either ask us to do something OR tell us how you want it done -- not both. if you already know how best to do it, dont bother asking us.
27. whenever possible, please say whatever you have to say during commercials.
28. chris columbus did not need directions, neither do we.
29. women wearing wonderbras and low-cut blouses lose their right to complain about having their boobs stared at. more women should wear wonderbras and low-cut blouses. we like staring at boobs.
30. the relationship is never going to be like it was the first two months we were going out. get over it. and quit whining to your girlfriends -- like their relationship is so much better.
31. all men see in only 16 colours, like a windows default setting. peach is a fruit. so is pumpkin. we dont know what mauve is.
32. if it itches, it will be scratched. we do that.
33. we are not mind readers and we never will be. our lack of mind reading ability is not proof of how little we care about you.
34. if we ask what's wrong and you say 'nothing', we will act like nothing's wrong. we know you are lying. its just not worth bothering about.
35. what the hell is a doily!? (???)
some of the points are harsh haha, but that's how this world works. the reality IS cold and harsh. don't expect anyone to be a prince charming (or king or whatever). i'm no expert in this relationship kind of stuff (noob!) but one thing i've learned is that we should not expect too much. to me, expectations only results in disappointment. i know it sounds super negative but ya that's how i think.
与其担心那无法预测的未来,不如把握现在所拥有的一切,享受此刻所带来的欢乐。
我依然相信“船到桥头自然直”
