just got back from collecting my race pack for the nike+ human race. well the organisation was really horrible because:
1) the race pack collection days are today (sunday) and monday. even idiots will know that the entire crowd will collect their goodie bag today. ok even assuming that they constrains of not being able to have it on saturday...
2) merely 10 collection counters will definitely not be enough to handle the close to 10000 crowd that'll come for the collection, even if it lasts throughout the day. singapore marathon saw around 30000+ participants but they probably had 5 times the number of counters
yup so in the end they was a dragon-ing queue down at clarke quay today. i only queued up for and hour and a half thanks to tuck wen who helped me *cough* cut *cough* queue. *cough* erhem. he was there since 12:45. me and my brother reached at 4. we got our goodie bags at 5:30. wow. if we hadn't been there tuck would have fainted from hunger.
ok that aside. i managed to catch the fireworks at marina with thomas, leon and naraen on friday. watching the fireworks display with your girlfriend is one thing. watching with them is a totally different feeling.
as the fireworks went "boom! boom! boom!"
"wah, our taxes also all going 'boom! boom! boom!'"
refering to the smaller fireworks: "eh! that's my 20cents, and 50cents!"
refering to the larger ones: "ah! that one. 50 dollars."
"that one! that one! ERP"

roger federer - DETHRONED! haha
no longer just the king of clay, but the king of tennis
oh and one more thing. i was reading the papers this morning and it seriously pissed me off to see some headlines actually criticising liu xiang for pulling out of the race.
sure, he carried the hopes of 1.3billion, was expected to retain his crown and all that. but when an athlete faces with an injury, it's not so simple. i'm not here to say what liu xiang did was right, but definitely he wasn't wrong. i'm sure the chinese would rather see their superstar pull out, recover and comeback some other time than to worsen the injury, get carried out of the track and not recover again. i mean, the choice is there and it definitely wasn't an easy one to make, for sure.
so what if it's the olympics that happens only once every four years? and so what if it's held at his home ground?
the pain he felt in his heart (after pulling out) would be much more painful than the ones in his achillies tendon, and i'm sure liu xiang himself knew that.
but sometimes, things just doesn't go your way.
sometimes i wonder if journalists of the sports section are sportsmen or sportswomen themselves. if not please understand the situation before publishing your articles on the papers.
seriously.

9.69s - catch him if you can
there weren't 8 men at the starting line yesterday, there were only 7.
7 men and 1 lightning bolt.
10 metres or so before the finish line and he was already beating his chest in triumph. how often do you get to see that in a 100m race? not to mention that that was the olympic finals we were witnessing. what makes it even more unbelivable is that he broke the world record while doing that. what can i say?
imba.
i'm so glad i managed to rush home last night to catch the race, to watch how he bolted down the track, demolishing (completely) the entire field of competitors. wow.
we'll see what he have to say for his 200m race.
where's our limit? we'll never know, for now.

"you and your buddy are alone at a depth of 40 metres. you have only one tank with 30bar left, just enough for one person to surface. what will you do?"
saw this movie when they screened it in japan last week (what a coincidence), so i thought i definitely have to download the subtitled version when i get back(since my japanese ain't that good yet =p). fortunately i was somehow able to find it online.
the movie revolved around the life of the rescue divers, the training's they do and all. ya, it somehow portrayed part of the life in NDU (that's why i had to find it and dl it, haha). though i must say diving ain't exactly as cool as it's being shown here. but i don't blame them since it's a movie and they had to make it look cool to attract the audience.
"why do you want to become a diver?"

ok i shall blog about my hokkaido trip when i get my hands on the pictures that are still with my other friends. i was rather lazy to take out my camera most of the time since i realise i can't truely enjoy the scenery at that moment if i keep snapping pictures. haha. ok that sounds like a lousy excuse, maybe i'm just plain lazy.
watever.
anyway just in case you're wondering why am i out, i'm given 2 days off.
so life is back to normal, normal as in once again, i'm doing boring clerical work AND sai kang. note that 'clerks' in NDU are never clerks since our 'job' involve sai kang from time to time (or rather, most of the time). oh well.
nike+ human race coming soon! need to train real badly. have been doing what i can to keep my fitness there since i ooc-ed but apparently it's still not enough. need to workout more!!!
note how these two songs are similar =)
(you can find the subtitled version on youtube)
