case 1: an athlete training through injury, bearing the pain and refusing to go for the necessary treatments. trying to do whatever possible means to buy time to at least be able to last through the season.
case 2: an athlete going for training despite knowing that she's not well. unwillingly got sent home (?!) and was unable to train with the others as he/she was told to rest well and recover.
both were different in terms of their current situation, but both had one thing in common - their sense of commitment for the team.
to me, they're both great people, great athletes, trying so hard to do whatever they can for the team despite deing plagued by injuries. they're the ones who'll make it big at the end of the day, they're the winners.
it sucks to be on the bench (is this term only used in soccer?) because of an injury. i know that, and i know it very well. broke my second metatarsal (dunno how to spell) when i was in sec3. missed the entire track season completely. i cried then, on the inside. but back then i know, the only thing left for me to do was to recover and get back in form so that i can run again.
looking at the 2 mentioned above just made me think (though i always say dont think too much) about a lot of things. somehow i wish that there's something i can do for them. life is unfair isn't it? there're those who badly want to train and yet are tied down by so many obsatcles, and yet there're those who're 100% fit who're slacking around in who knows where.
and it sucks to get answers like, "there's nothing you can do about it"
i'll just have to work harder...
