So after a bit of searching here and there, i somehow manage to get a week of relief in rv because a number of their teachers are going for OBS. well, i guess i wouldn't consider that successful job hunting because a week of work doesn't really fulfill my need for a stable income till august. maybe i should try mass emailing to other schools.
and on second thoughts, adhoc relief ain't so bad after all. i can use my free time to help out my dad while going to teach once in a while. furthermore, a week of relief is almost equivalent to a month of my CPL pay back in NS! so i guess i should be able to survive somehow.
and seriously relief teaching is really one of my favourite jobs. you go to work in formal attire, go home in PE attire haha. no prizes for guessing why. of course pe relief is much better la.
for now, if anyone has any job lobangs feel free to contact me. or rather, please contact me.

before i even begin, just to share with you guys (if any) a movie i caught with lynette recently. a pleasant, light hearted film about a love story with a deaf girl. the movie's in chinese, with a bit of hokkien here and there and a lot of sign languages (with subtitles of course). i managed to pick up a few by the end of the show.
anyway, back to life. first things first:
ORD LOH!!!!
enough said. i realised how kiddish i look on my pink ic after not seeing it for almost two years. and despite not feeling that mega-overwhelming-overflowing-super-duper-bursting sense of pure joy and delight that i had expected to, it is still pleasing to know that i'm no longer binded (or less) by any military regulations. no more cutting of hair every month, no more reporting to work at 8am in the morning, no more "should i take mc?", but at the same time, no more free mc.
well, not that it matters now anyway. the pressing issue at hand now is having to find a job asap now that i no longer have any source of income (and neither am i interested in sucking money from my parents). the realisation of slacking a day away being equivalent to losing $65 (in relief teaching rate) is pretty scary when you're earning your own pocket money. i kind of regretted no trying harder to find a job a few weeks before my ORD but i guess it's a bit too late now isn't it? Fortunately i still have my tuition income to keep my balance of payment deficit to a minimum. as i have always said: no income results in a bad outcome.
i shall be nice to end off with a thank you note for my ORDeal in the SAF:
thank you NDU, for giving my the although short, but proabably the best experience i will have in my life. sorry for not being able to complete CDC, something which i still regret up to this day. 29th batch, happy ord guys. after which, working in NPD definitely taught me a lot about office work, be it skills with data, or 'skills' in dodging your bosses and how to sleep in the office w/o getting caught. also, office politics, something that i've come to realise that it is impossible for office to exist without office politics, like how there will always been weeds in your crop. but then again, it is up to the workers to keep all these weeds to a bare minimum, and learn that only by clearing them will the harvest propser. with that, i'm grateful to have grown and learned stuff in this phase of a singaporean male's life. like all other's, i'm glad to have finally crossed the finishing line. 3 cheers for ord.
the end one thing only signals the start of a new beginning. like how it always has been, i'm looking forward to it. this is my life, and i'm living it.

well i guess before the day comes to an end, i shall make use of this tiny space to wish everyone a merry christmas. hope you've had a merry day indeed =)
well it had been a great december thanks to my accumualed (or rather not used) leaves. taking all 14 days at one shot sure is a splendid idea. and that little wisdom tooth surgery at the start of the month was quite worth it since not a single penny was forked out from my own wallet. well, you can either call this 'reaping the benefits of an SAF soldier' or 'making sure that the taxes i paid were put to good use'. although it came with a night of pain and the loss of more blood than i had expected, it's much better than only realising the need to pluck it when i get that excrutiating pain sometime in the future. and there's also that the pain in the pocket to complement it as well, since the bill of that minor surgery was by no means minor.
well, there's only a week left before 2009 comes to a close. maybe i shall dedicate the next entry to it before this year becomes yesteryear. i'm almost near the finishing line of a certain phase of a singaporean man's life. 19th Mar 2008 - 18th Jan 2010. from diver to clerk to ORD, from boat PT to vlookup to pink ic, from pes A to C to B, it has been one hell of a roller coaster ride.
some of my ORD-ed colleagues who have gone ahead with their studies in their respective unis have mentioned that they do miss the life in the office, referring to the goaless, mindless, just following orders and photocopying papers (aka sk) life, as contrasted to their current uni situation. that makes me dread uni life too, but just a little. a little. i'm still looking forward it because i choose to believe it will be much more colourful than the pixelated no.4.
till then, i'll just have to enjoy life, come what may
